Be Creative.... B.. E.. Creative.... B.. E.. ..........

I'm not really sure what makes me creative.... I think it helps when I enjoy the general premise of the project I'm trying to be creative with. Sometimes I try to think of topics, experiences, anything that reminds me or can somehow be connected to the project.. and see if that leads to anything creative.

Showers... Showers help me think a lot. It is the one place I can be to where I'm not interrupted. That is the biggest antagonist to my creative process. Distraction. I have to be very focused once the creative juices start flowing so I prefer to be alone when I am working on stuff.

I think I'm creative with my storytelling. And I used to come up with some pretty cool stories. And I hope I'm creative with video projects although most of what I do doesn't allow for a lot of creativity. I guess I'll find out how creative I am this summer.

My most creative project.... hmm.... Well, in second grade I wrote a story about a thunder storm and drew a picture with it. It was a paragraph long. It was awesome!! It got put in a book and everything. I think I peaked then.. and it's been downhill ever since ;)

About that interview...

The one with Brandon Piety, of XXXChurch PornMobile Confessions. Turns out he is a busy guy... BUT I did get some short answers from the questions I asked.. So that's something! Sam Sanchez, their film producer was kind enough to email me some short answers and here they are!

1. Why did you ditch the audio and go to strictly video casting?
Video is more personal and more fun to do. People get a better feel
for what we are doing through video.

2. What drives audiences to your vodcast? Probably the experience
they get from seeing and hearing what we do, how is affects us and
the people we are involved with. They can feel almost like they are
physically a part of our team while supporting from afar.

3. Do you lose money creating the vodcast or gain money from it?
Hard to say. We cannot really track it. It takes more time (which is
money) but if more people watch, spread the word and get help or get
involved with the vodcast than podcast (which we think people do) it
is worth it.

4. Being the Producion Manager, what is your role in getting the
vodcast on the XXXChurch site? I am not the production manager -
just the shooter and editor. But the video has to be uploaded, put
on our site, spread through myspace and emails as well.

5. Are there any pod/vodcasts that you follow and what attracts you
to them? Not in particular; I spend more time reading and watching
movies.

Oh and this is pretty cool.. remember that David Warlick guy I talked to earlier about his blog?? Well, I was working on my research paper and wanted to check a citation so I was searching for a site to help me cite... and did you know that the first website that came up was this Son of a Citation Machine created by The Landmark Project which David Warlick created. Small world!

Tweet Tweet... Tweet Tweet

No I am not a bird.. I'm just usin the lingo, yo, of Twitter. After creating an account a week ago I have been attempting to update my Twitter two times a day. Here are somethings I want to put out there. One, I think a day should be more of a figurative term.. I mean.. God created the world in 7 days... right? Or did He? See?? uh huh. Two, I prefer texting my updates because when you're on the go it is just easier. C, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Twittering twice a day does not come naturally! Especially if it wasn't my personal idea to do this whole Twitter thing in the first place. That is like asking someone to color two pictures a day. It is so abnormal.

Now, it's not all that bad. I talked to a kid I haven't talked to in forever when I synced my address book up. I don't mind the connectedness. I like being able to see what others are up to and for them to see what I'm doing. Sometimes it is nice to see that someone is having a good day.. or someone's day sucked just as bad as yours. And I don't really feel like my privacy was being invaded. You see if you put any sort of conscious effort into this thing you won't feel that way. If I don't want people to know certain private things, I'm going to be able to think in my mind "hmm.. I think this is private" and then continue to refrain from publishing it on the world wide web. :)

Let me talk to you...

As you saw last week I chose to follow the XXXChurch's VodCast, the PornMobile Confessions. So for my interview I was hoping to get to talk to Brandon Piety, he is the Production Manager of the team and I thought I would like his insight best especially because I am drawn towards production. The questions I had prepared were the following:

1. Why did you ditch the audio and go to strictly video casting?

2. What drives audiences to your vodcast?

3. Do you lose money creating the vodcast or gain money from it?

4. Being the Producion Manager, what is your role in getting the vodcast on the XXXChurch site?

5. Are there any pod/vodcasts that you follow and what attracts you to them?

Unfortunately I am still waiting to hear from Mr. Piety.

Podcasts....

So this was just extremely frustrating. I really do have problems with technology at time. But thank goodness for Google, which hooked me up with PicklePodcasts, which led me to the entertainment genre where I stumbled across a familiar name... XXXChurch.

For those of you that don't know, this organization is there to help those addicted to porn, sex, and masturbation, whomever they are. One man that is actively involved with XXXChurch spoke at a church service and that was the experience I had with their message.

I found their videocast at:

http://xxxchurch.tv/

I watched a few of their episodes and they are very interesting. They share new ideas, new bibles, new travels, and new stories. They travel to different shows and events to set up stands and give away little bibles and have great footage and stories of that. Although my favorite episodes are of the Pornmobile Confessions. In these episodes they will pick up the person and then that person just gives their story. It's very raw and compelling. Their stories are fascinating and heartbreaking. Most of these types of episodes have two guests each time.

I really enjoyed watching some of these episodes. They are very compelling and produced well. I'm glad I finally found something somewhat familiar, and I like that it was video. I will definitely keep up with this blog. (You can even get an internship with them!)

Application...

I am interested in the non-profit organization Services for Vision and Hearing Impaired. I think this is a valuable organization that does not get the credit or attention it deserves for the great service it provides. That being said... I think it would be a good idea to create a Facebook application to raise awareness of this organization!

The application would be to add a "Service Animal" to your Facebook. After adding the initial app, you would have many ways of customizing it to your own preference. The first option you have is what service you want the animal to complete:

Visual Assistance:
Dog: German Shepherd, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers
Miniature Horse:
Name
Design harness
Determine alert system (dog noises=notifications; ie. 1 bark=wall post)

Hearing Assistance:
Dog: (choose from all breeds)
Name
Design harness
Determine alert system (different visual affects= notifications; ie. paw prints flashing over poke section=poke)

The user also has the choice to interact further with their service animal by playing or feeding it although it is not required for the survival of the animal or functioning of the application.

I would hope this application would be fun for the users and bring a subtle awareness as well. There are many people in need of what Services for the Vision and Hearing Impaired offers; maybe not the user themselves, but I'm confident that everyone knows someone that has a difficulty, from age or disease, and those are the people this organization aims to serve.
